About
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Organic Chemistry to work under the supervision of Professor Stephen Fletcher, for a period of up to 3 years. Current projects in the group involve asymmetric catalysis, synthesis, mechanistic studies, and the development of complex dynamic systems.
The successful candidate will develop new catalytic asymmetric cross-coupling reactions and be highly motivated with a proven track record of excellence in chemistry.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry (or be close to completion) prior to taking up your appointment. The research requires expertise in organic synthesis and catalysis. The successful applicant must be viewed as a motivated, enthusiastic and as an organised self-starter.
They should also be willing to learn new techniques and apply them in an interdisciplinary research environment. They should also be able to demonstrate competence and success in the thesis research area and have an excellent general knowledge of related areas.
As the successful postholder, you will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.
You will adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols, test hypotheses and analyse scientific data and contribute ideas for new research projects. You will Act as a source of information and advice to other members of the group and Represent the research group at external meetings/seminars.
Location
The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA. This post is available to start in April but no later than June 2022, fixed-term for 3 years, funded by EPSRC.
