Terra Summer Residency Fellowships 2022 at France [Fully Funded]: Apply by Jan 17

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the Terra Summer Residency Fellowships 2022 at France.

About Terra Summer Residency Fellowships

The Terra Summer Residency is the foundation’s annual, interdisciplinary program for doctoral scholars and artists worldwide. The program encourages independent work on dissertations and artistic projects, while providing thematic seminars on topics of current interest to the field of American art, visual and material culture, and artistic practice.

Mentoring by established scholars and artists is offered, as well as guest lectures from art professionals to foster reflection about more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable practices.

The Terra Foundation prioritizes scholarly and artistic projects that interrogate and broaden definitions of American art and supports projects engaged in transforming or complicating how the story of American art is told.

To expand histories of American art, we encourage projects that reflect a commitment to inclusive and equitable research and creative practice; generate new scholarship and interpretive frameworks; employ critical methodologies and innovative models; and/or engage diverse partners and audiences.

Given the international and interdisciplinary nature of the program, we encourage interest in and projects that allow for cross-cultural dialogue.

Located in the foundation’s houses in Giverny, France (about one hour from Paris), the nine-week residency aims to provide participants with an opportunity to listen and learn from each other, to compare cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives, and to form professional networks and collaborations.

In addition to a stipend, fellows receive on-site lodging, use of working facilities, lunches, and weekly round-trip train tickets to Paris.
