About MyGov

MyGov is a citizen engagement platform launched by the Government of India on July 26, 2014 to promote the active participation of Indian citizens in their country’s governance and development. It is aimed at creating a common platform for Indian citizens to “crowdsource governance ideas from citizens”.

About the Bharatiya Khel

For millennia, Bhārata, one of the world’s ancient and continuous civilizations, has cultivated a diverse array of games, both indoor and outdoor, reflecting its geographical diversity, philosophy, culture, and people’s mindset.

Unfortunately, the focus on standardised games in education has led to the neglect of simpler traditional games that once honed skills like swiftness and strategic thinking.

This initiative aims to reintroduce these accessible games into every household, leveraging the education system and the assistance of Physical Education Teachers and organisations that advocate for and foster the importance of games in daily life.

Since ancient times, Bhārata, one of the world’s oldest continuously living civilisations, has evolved some of the most captivating games to keep individuals and communities creatively entertained. The rich traditions of Bhāratīya Khel consisting of hundreds of indoor and outdoor fun activities capture the geographical diversity of the different regions, and incorporates features of their nature scapes, their philosophy, culture and the mindset of their people.

The standardisation of selected games in the education system has resulted in the forgetting of some of the simpler ones that were played by our ancestors that helped them learn how to be swift, strategise and outsmart opponents skilfully in the game on the ground as well as in life.

Through this initiative, they seek to bring simple and easy-to-play games to every household in the country through the education system with the support of Physical Education Teachers as well as through different organisations that encourage and promote games as part of their activities.
