This year UN will celebrate the 9th International Day of Women and Girls in Science and it’s theme will be Women and Girls in Science leadership a New Era for Sustainability . Science plays an important role in the progress of any nation contributing to the various aspects of social economic and technological advancements and progress. It also enables the global competitiveness and social development. Moreover the woman and girls bring diversity to the research led innovation expands the pool of science professionals and provide fresh perspectives to science and technology benefiting everyone.
By promoting Women and Girls in Science also enables the contribution from the population represents our 50% overall population statistically all around the globe. The opportunity enabled to the woman and girls in science especially STEM Program not only will promote gender equality, social justice, economic empowerment but also help to achieve the UN SDG’s 2030 Agenda of United Nations. Supporting Women and Girls in their education to help them achieve their full potential and empower them to voice their ideas is imperative for development progress and peace. To recognize the critical role woman and girls play in the field of Science and Technology the UNGA have decided to celebrate the UN International Day of Women and Girls in Science Every year on 11th February and it was adopted the day of 11 February on 22 December 2015 and by the virtue of that this year we will celebrate the 9th UN International Day of Women and Girls in Science Day this year..

Kadambini Ganguly-She was the first female graduate of British India. Physician Doctor of South Asia studied at Kolkata Medical College and trained in Scotland.
She was the first woman speaker of Indian National Congress.
Anna Mani -Former Deputy Director General of IMD.a physicist and Meteorologist she authored books like The handbook of solar radiation Data for India and the other famous book named solar radiation over India. She won K.R.Ramanathan Medal in 1987.
Sunita Williams -She is an Indian born US Space Explorer made a significant contribution in the field of Space Science and Technology She works for NASA at present.
Kalpana Chawla -She was the Indian born US Space Explorer made an amazing contribution in the space exploration mission. She died in 2003.
Ritu Karidhal -Space Scientist Currently working at ISRO made a significant contribution in India’s Mars Orbital Mission Popularly known as Mangalyaan She was the deputy operations director of Mission Mangalyaan of ISRO.She is popularly known as the Rocket Woman Of India.

Savitribai phule-first female educator of India she made a huge contribution in the field of healthcare as well as teachings she made a huge contribution for the patient of leprosy and tuberculosis at her home at Pune in Maharashtra.
