What is the MeitY Digital India Internship Scheme 2024?

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is inviting applications for its Digital India Internship Scheme 2024. This internship aims to provide students with practical work experience under the guidance of qualified mentors. It's an opportunity for active learning and experimentation, allowing students to apply the knowledge they've gained in the classroom to real-world scenarios.

Who is Eligible?

Indian students from recognized universities who have secured at least 60% marks in their last degree or certificate examination are eligible to apply. The eligible courses include:

- B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Computer Science (CS), IT, Electronics & Communications (EC), Electronics, or Electrical

- M.Sc. in Computer Science (CS), IT, Electronics, or Electrical

- MCA/DOEACC ‘B’ level

- LL.B (specifically for areas related to Cyber Laws and Public policy on the Internet)

- B.E/B.Tech in Electronics & Communications (EC) or Electronics, along with an MBA in Finance, or M.Sc. in Electronics along with an MBA in Finance (for the area of Project appraisal and Funding methodologies for electronics and semiconductor manufacturing units vis a vis international economies).

Please note that students in their last semester or those who will pass out in the summer of 2024 are not eligible for this internship.

Duration and Stipend

The internship will last for a minimum of two months, with the possibility of extension up to three months, depending on the candidate's performance and the Ministry's requirements. Interns will receive a token stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month, subject to satisfactory performance as certified by their supervisor/mentor.

How to Apply?

Interested and eligible students must apply online. Applications need to be sponsored/forwarded by the institution where the applicant is currently enrolled.

Selection Process

Interns will be selected by the respective organizations/groups/divisions based on their domain. Personal or Skype interviews may be conducted if necessary. The list of selected candidates will be displayed on the web portal.

Important Dates

- Submission of applications: May 6th to May 21st, 2024

- Selection/scrutiny of applications: May 22nd to May 28th, 2024

- Result of selected interns: May 29th, 2024

- Internship commencement date: June 3rd, 2024

- Internship completion date: August 2nd, 2024
