Program Overview:

Literary gerontology is the study of literary works to comprehend old age. This FDP aims to examine fiction as a resource for gerontology within the critical framework of literary gerontology. Participants will engage with literary texts to understand ageing, collaborating with insights from history, ethics, philosophy, sociology, psychology, and medicine.

Schedule and Topics: 6.00 Pm to 7.00 Pm Daily

Outcomes:

After attending this Faculty Development Program, participants will be able to:

1. Explore the fixities existent in Indian experiences of aging.
2. Use narratives as gerontological resources to demonstrate how stereotypes about old age are social constructs, revealing unarticulated silences in the life of an old person.
3. Identify novels that act as sites where multiple cultural narratives of aging converge and interact with one another.
