The Centre for Himalayan Studies at Shiv Nadar University is inviting applications for its Non-Resident Fellowship for the period from December 15, 2024, to December 14, 2025. This fellowship is designed to support advanced research addressing the various challenges and opportunities within the wider Himalayan region, focusing on aspects such as economy, borders and identities, the environment, and regional geopolitics, including the Hindu Kush and Karakoram.

About the Fellowship

• Fellowship Duration: December 15, 2024 - December 14, 2025
• Eligibility: Candidates must hold a completed Ph.D. Preference will be given to those with relevant work experience.
• Stipend: Fellows will receive a consolidated stipend of ₹50,000 per month for the duration of 12 months.
• Travel Support: Travel expenses for two annual visits to the core team at Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, will be covered.

Research Output Requirements:

• Monograph: A comprehensive work of 15,000-20,000 words due by the end of the fellowship.
• Quarterly Contributions: Four commentaries of 800-1,000 words and four issue briefs of 2,500-3,000 words.

Themes and Sub-Themes: Research proposals may focus on the following broad themes:

• Borders & Identities
• Economy
• Environment
• Geopolitics
