Postdoctoral Position at ICTP, Italy [Fully Funded]: Apply by March 1

ICTP’s Quantitative Life Sciences (QLS) section seeks applications for a postdoctoral position starting spring/summer 2022 from outstanding young scientists of any nationality with a strong research record.

About the Opportunity

• The QLS section provides a unique international research environment for postdoctoral fellows, with about 15 group members (faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and visitors), an intense programme of workshops and conferences, with a dense network of international research collaborations.
• The QLS section has expertise in a broad range of fields including theoretical ecology, biological physics, statistical physics of information processing, machine learning, statistical inference, stochastic processes, and stochastic thermodynamics. 
• Postdoctoral fellows are encouraged and supported to participate in activities in developing countries in order to promote the mission of ICTP.

Eligibility

• Candidates should have a background in statistical physics and/or applied mathematics, and be able to carry active multidisciplinary research in at least one of the following research areas: stochastic thermodynamics; stochastic processes in biological physics; statistical physics of information processing; thermodynamics of computation, learning and coding theory.
• Candidates with expertise in theoretical aspects, data analysis and numerical simulations are especially encouraged to apply.

Benefits

• The take-home monthly salary will be in the range of 2100 — 2300 EUR (depending on seniority).
• Benefits include health insurance, a pension contribution, and special allowances for family members. Appointments will be made for two years, with the possibility of renewal for one more year.
