Men Against Violence and Abuse (MAVA), a social organization working for the last 29 years to promote gender equality is looking for a Project Coordinator (Male) for its Gender-Sensitization and Mentoring program for young men in Bangalore.
About the Job
In collaboration with JAIN University, MAVA is implementing the said Program under Project Maanush engaging select undergraduate male student mentees from their 2 Campuses.
Role Description
- Co-designing and coordinating gender sensitization workshops, other learning activities and other interventions that include campaign to engage and build capacities of select mentees, impart them skills of peer-communication and leadership through continuous community engagement activities on issues of gender, sexuality, health, masculinities and violence against women
- Mentoring select mentees towards gender-sensitive behaviour and standing up for women’s rights to dignity and safety using innovative tools including social media, enabling them to influence their peers to become gender-sensitive and promoting gender-equitable model of masculinity
- Organizing and coordinating Special Awareness Campaigns and Events like Rallies, Street-Plays, Film-Festivals, Youth Competitions and other Collaborative Programs with involvement of mentees
- Process Documentation, Advocacy on Male-Engagement
Education & Experience
- Masters in Social Work / Development / Gender Studies/ Communications with 1+ years’ credible work experience in the developmental sector space preferably work on gender / women’s empowerment issues
- Excellent communication skills in English, Kannada / and Hindi
- Understanding of social media channels, their effectiveness and audience-base
