Applications are invited for Zoo Ambassador Programme 2023 for Students in Classes 8-10 by Nandankanan Zoological Park. The School ambassador along with his/her family can visit Nandankanan free of cost one time. 

About the Park

Nandankanan Zoological Park is a premier large zoo of India. Unlike other zoos in the country, Nandankanan is built right inside the forest and set in a completely natural environment. The animals are housed in enclosures with greenery with a feel of real forest and live with no fear or apprehension of becoming the hunter’s prey.

Nandankanan is 15 kms from Odisha’s capital, Bhubaneswar. The Bhubaneswar railway station is at a distance of 18 kms and the Biju Patnaik International Airport is at a distance of 20 kms. Tourist cottages inside Nandankanan are available for accommodation, only during day time, on prior reservation from the office of Deputy Director, Nandankanan Zoological Park.

Programme Details

Applications are invited from the schools for the educational programme “Student Ambassador for Nandankanan”. It is a zoo education programme of Nandankanan Zoological Park. The programme aims to select an ambassador for Nandankanan in each school. Target group is students of class 8 to Class 10. Schools need to get the list of interested students and apply online through the website of Nandankanan.

A series of 6 recorded classes (of 20-30 min each) will be sent to school for circulating among the students, whose name got registered for the programme. One evaluation (written examination) will be conducted on the basis of the classes provided.

The topper of the examination will be selected as the ambassador of Nandankanan for the school for one year.

The ambassador will be informed about the updated information and news from the field of Wildlife Conservation in General and Nandankanan in particular. The ambassador will be provided with certificate and badge. Among the ambassadors District ambassadors shall also be selected further. District ambassadors will be selected on the basis of district level tests among the school toppers.

The School ambassador along with his/her family can visit Nandankanan free of cost one time. District ambassador can visit Nandankanan free of cost at any time. Zoo Ambassadors shall work as representative of Nandankanan to spread awareness on Wildlife Conservation.
