Wildlife Week Events by National Zoological Park [Free Engaging Activities; With Exciting Prizes]: Register by Oct 8!

Celebrate Wildlife Week from October 2 to 8, 2024 at the National Zoological Park, New Delhi, and immerse yourself in a variety of engaging activities. From nature walks and creative competitions to expert talks and wildlife conservation events, there’s something for everyone!

These events are open to participants of all ages, and you could win prizes worth Rs. 70,000. Registration is free, and the deadline to register is October 8, 2024.

Offline Events and Competitions

Here’s a lineup of exciting activities happening at the zoo throughout the week:

October 4, 2024

  • Clay Modeling Competition (10:00 AM | 120 mins)
    Topic: Wildlife in Our Culture
    Groups: Group A (Blind Divyangjan), Group B (PH/CWSN Divyangjan)
    Materials: Provided by NZP

  • Wildlife Collage Poster Competition (10:00 AM | 120 mins)
    Topic: Concealed Beauty of Wildlife
    Eligibility: Open to all students
    Materials: Bring your own; A-1 size sheets will be provided by NZP

  • Enclosure Enrichment Activity (03:00 PM | 60 mins)
    Topic: Species in Focus: Reptiles
    Eligibility: Zoo Volunteers, students, reptile staff
    Location: Reptile House

October 5, 2024

  • Tree Walk (09:00 AM | 60 mins)
    Topic: Flora of NZP
    Eligibility: Zoo Volunteers, students, visitors

  • Bird Nest and Bird Feeder Making Competitions (10:00 AM | 120 mins)
    Topic: Re-use of Waste Material
    Groups: Group A (6th to 8th Class), Group B (PH/CWSN Divyangjan)

  • Leaf Craft Competition (10:00 AM | 120 mins)
    Topic: Art and Craft Using Plant Leaves
    Eligibility: Group C (9th Class and above)
    Materials: Provided by NZP

  • Keeper’s Talk and Enclosure Enrichment (03:00 PM | 60 mins)
    Topic: Species in Focus: Bears
    Location: Bear Enclosure

October 6, 2024

  • Birds Walk (09:00 AM | 60 mins)
    Topic: Birds of NZP
    Eligibility: Zoo Volunteers, students, visitors

  • Expert Talk on Wildlife Conservation (10:00 AM | 60 mins)
    Eligibility: Open to all

  • Debate Competition (11:00 AM | 120 mins)
    Topic: Wildlife and Humans Can Co-exist
    Eligibility: 9th to 12th Class students (max. 2 participants per school)

  • Keeper’s Talk and Enclosure Enrichment (03:00 PM | 60 mins)
    Topic: Species in Focus: Primates

  • Insect Walk (09:00 AM | 60 mins)
    Topic: Insects of NZP

  • Treasure Hunt Activity (10:00 AM | 60 mins)
    Topic: Mimicking Animal Behavior
    Eligibility: 6th to 8th Class students

  • Rangoli Competition (11:00 AM | 120 mins)
    Topic: Preserve Wildlife
    Eligibility: 9th to 12th Class

October 8, 2024

  • Bird Walk (09:00 AM | 60 mins)
    Topic: Water Birds of NZP

  • Wildlife Quiz Activity (10:00 AM | 120 mins)
    Eligibility: 6th to 12th Class

  • Keeper’s Talk and Enclosure Enrichment (03:00 PM | 60 mins)
    Topic: Species in Focus: Herbivores

Online Competitions

Not able to attend in person? You can still participate in these exciting online competitions:

Prizes for these categories range from Rs. 3,000 for the first prize to Rs. 500 for consolation awards.

How to Register?

Interested participants can register online via the official link. The deadline for registration is October 8, 2024. You can also register on-site for offline competitions between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM at the zoo entrance.

Important Notes:

  • Free entry for children up to 12 years of age from October 2 to 8, 2024.
  • Free entry for all participants, along with school teachers, parents, and accompanying staff, during the event week.
