About

Since 1990, the Umdasch Group has been supporting outstanding achievements in research and development through the Josef Umdasch Research Prize. The award was created by the company’s present owners Hilde Umdasch and Alfred Umdasch, who named the prize after their father, Josef Umdasch.

Details

 As a result of the cooperation with the World Summit Awards (WSA), which has been in existence since 2018, the Josef Umdasch Research Prize is increasingly aimed at start-ups, entrepreneurs and future-oriented thinkers around the globe who can inspire enthusiasm with an innovative project idea.

We are looking for new ideas, technologies or use cases for artificial intelligence or computer vision. Submissions should address brick and mortar retail, or construction and the building life cycle.

For example, submissions can cover object recognition, facial recognition, IoT, digital twin, video tracking etc.

Your idea should contribute to the SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation).

Eligibility:

All start-ups, students and innovators throughout the world who have practical use cases and ideas regarding “artificial intelligence & computer vision for retail or construction” are eligible to enter.

Benefits:

The submitters of the best ideas will be nominated as finalists by Umdasch and will be rewarded with EUR 5,000 so they can develop their idea further.

The finalists will be invited to pitch their detailed ideas to a jury of experts in March 2022. The pitching event and award ceremony will be organized either online or as a physical live-event; the decision on the format will be done timely with the participants.

If the event is held as live-event, flights/transport and accommodation costs for one person per finalist/finalist team will be covered by Umdasch Group.

Application:

• Register and submit your idea until January 10th 2022
• January & February 2022: Video calls with shortlisted teams will take place
• Finalists will be notified until mid of February 2022 (Rewarded with EUR 5,000)
• March 2022: Final pitch presentations by all finalists take place
