Women always have a desire to thrive. To accomplish this dream, they strive efficiently and make huge progress.
Despite being capable enough, they need support systems to value and recognize their achievements. More explicitly, they need strong mediums to convey why women need due recognition and respect.
I have earlier written a blog post about “Why are women in these modern times focusing on empowering themselves?“. But, through this blog post, I want to highlight the mediums that are mainly focusing on women’s empowerment.
Recently, it was a proud moment for women when 75th Republic Day in India was celebrated, focusing on the “Naari Shakti” (women’s power).
The Republic Day celebration began as the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the 15th President of India, unfurled the Indian flag.
As the celebration commenced, the women from the tri-service contingent (Army, Navy, and Air Force) marched gracefully and dominated the parade to show how women’s empowerment is progressing in our nation.
Hundreds of women artists played traditional musical instruments to represent how women continue to keep up their traditional and cultural heritages.
Female pilots’ daring feats in the sky represented how women rise high wherever the right opportunities are given.
Central Armed Police forces with only female personnel marched proudly to show that our nation is not bound by gender in recent times.
Not just women in uniforms were given the spotlight, but also our women’ workers from the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, electronics, and manufacturing sectors were honored for their excellent contributions through their dedicated services.
Finally, women’ scientists from ISRO who incredibly played a major role in launching the Chandrayaan-3 mission were invited as guests of honor and were saluted by the parade. This was to represent how women are thriving in STEM fields.
Impact of Mass Media
The media plays a crucial role at present to showcase how women face patriarchal society in their daily lives and how they are breaking gender stereotypes with their bravery and courage.
From movies, short films, web series on OTT platforms, TV commercials, daily soap operas, and TV shows, theater acts widely illustrate the importance of gender equality, women’s rights, the need for financial independence, and women-centric themes.
We should also feel proud to see the rise of female directors because they are creating fine masterpieces by featuring female leads to voice out the need for women’s empowerment.
Publishing Industry’s Role
Women’s empowerment has been continuously highlighted in recent days through various publishing mediums like newspapers, magazines, and books.
Not just female authors, but men are also writing content about various topics that are meant to support women.
Social Media Advocacy
Social media plays a vital role in portraying even the slightest gender diversities faced by women in day-to-day life.
Social media platforms have numerous apps, channels, accounts, blogs, and articles that provide safety, support, and strengthen the beliefs of empowering women.
Mainly, these social media are helping,
• To get inspiration from those women who are following their dreams amidst the trials and turmoils.
• Educate about the necessity for women’s empowerment.
• Relate to the ongoing patriarchies that’s still happening in society.
These initiatives and mediums are not just offering support to women but also helping to change the mindset of those who discriminate against women’s empowerment.
To sum up, despite the partialities, differences, and patriarchies, it’s glad to see how our nation and society are significantly paving ways for women to take the lead and empower themselves in the right direction.
Despite being capable enough, they need support systems to value and recognize their achievements. More explicitly, they need strong mediums to convey why women need due recognition and respect.
