UNSSC is offering a free online course on "The Youth, Peace, and Security Primer." Participants will receive a certificate upon completion.

About the Course

The Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) Primer is designed to create a shared understanding and approach for the UN system and its partners in implementing the Youth, Peace, and Security Agenda. The course serves as a guiding resource for UN entities, governments, civil society, and academia in their efforts to work with and for youth in the realms of peace and security.

Course Introduction

With the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security and subsequent resolutions, there has been a global call for the meaningful and inclusive participation of youth in peacebuilding at all levels. The YPS Primer, developed by UNSSC in partnership with the Folke Bernadotte Academy, builds upon the “Youth, Peace and Security: A Programming Handbook.” This open online resource is available to all practitioners aiming to deepen their understanding of the YPS Agenda.

Course Methodology

The YPS Primer is a self-paced learning tool hosted on the UNSSC Elounge platform. After registration, participants will gain immediate access to the platform and all associated learning materials.

Course Contents

The course consists of three foundational learning modules that equip practitioners with the skills and knowledge necessary to support the implementation of the YPS Agenda:

1. Introduction to the Youth, Peace, and Security Agenda
2. Enabling Meaningful Youth Participation
3. Conducting Youth-Sensitive Conflict Analysis

Target Audience

The YPS Primer is an open resource available to all practitioners, including those working in the UN, government, civil society, and academia.
