Michael Jacobs Foundation-Michael Jacobs Travel Chronicle Scholarship 2022

The Gabo foundation and the Hay Festival Cartagena de India, as part of an alliance of more than a decade, took the initiative to organize, as a tribute to the English writer, the Michael Jacobs Chronicle Grant traveller after he died in 2014. A non-profit organization Michael Jacobs foundation started by Michael's widow and brother initiated their demand and legacy in Spain and Latin America.

The Juries will take the narrative quality and the journalist depth of the projects into account to choose the winner. Travel Journalism went beyond the simple anecdotal experience for Michael Jacobs, his work was capable of awakening the senses and mind the mind of any reader.

 

Benefits:

•  7500$ will be given as a starting amount for writing your research books and articles. 
•  Scholarship will be in two parts, first when the winner’s name will be declared (one-third) 2500$ and second (two-third) 5000$ when the research book and the article will be completed and delivered to the concerned publisher for publishing.
•  In the next edition of the Michael Scholarship, the winner will be welcomed to participate as a jury for chronology writings.
•  The winner will get a courtesy from MAELSA in the collaboration with the inquieted Foundation, located in Frails, they will get a stay and accommodation for one month excluding flight, food, and personal expenses.

 

Eligibilities:

•  Any Journalist or writer having work address in Spain or Latin America and having good command over English or Spanish can apply over the globe.
•  For applying for the scholarship you need to have an autobiography in Spanish or English ( word limit - 800 words). Resumes and curricula are not acceptable.
• The book and article must be written in Spanish or English with a detailed presentation of projects like a description of the project, work schedule, and planned travel itinerary. The jury will evaluate the author’s narrative capacity so the project shouldn't be finished and just send some part of the ongoing project.
• The written material published by the author should be printed or in digital form. At the time of application submission candidate must have published one article or book.
