In this webinar, we will introduce biologists to the basics of data visualization using R. A brief overview of R and its ecosystem of visualization packages is provided, followed by the principles of effective data visualization, including choosing appropriate plot types and aesthetics, labeling, and formatting. Further, she demonstrates how to create basic plots such as scatterplots, bar charts, and line graphs and how to customize them to convey specific insights using example datasets. Finally, she will discuss exporting and sharing visualizations for presentations and publications. At the end of the webinar, attendees will have a foundational understanding of data visualization with R and be equipped to create their own informative and visually compelling plots.
