About India Fellow:
India Fellow is an 18-month transformative social leadership program for curious professionals from various walks of life, willing to live and work alongside communities and find their leadership potential to bring social change. It is an experiential journey to immerse in our country’s realities and be our best version to build a better future.

Since 2010, India Fellow has had 250 fellows from varied academic and professional backgrounds who have worked across the country with 80+ partner organizations in innovative projects. Supported by mentors who are leaders from various walks of life and a unique pedagogy, fellows have been leading social ventures and solving complex problems across various sectors.

Philosophy:
India Fellow believes that the development of India is everyone’s responsibility. They emphasize the need for talented changemakers with deep exposure to India’s broader realities, understanding the challenges and opportunities in diverse environments, and having the empathy, skills, and determination to create social good. They aim to prepare future leaders committed to the development of our society.

Program Design:
  • Working with Communities: Fellows work full-time at the grassroots with leading social organizations, typically in rural or peri-urban setups, to understand societal complexities.
  • Training: An 8-week residential training spread over 18 months, divided into four parts: induction, midpoint, travel workshop, and endpoint.
  • Continuous Learning: Fellows document their observations and experiences, participate in virtual sessions with mentors, online courses, and collective fundraising.
  • Mentorship: Access to a pool of mentors, facilitators, and experienced professionals who enrich the fellows' experience.

Fellow Roles:
  • Project Implementation: Design and implement social programs addressing community needs, oversee budgets, monitor outcomes, and ensure project goals are met.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate meaningful interactions between stakeholders.
  • Capacity Building: Enhance organizational capacity through training, system development, or technology introduction.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Collect and analyze data, contribute to research studies, program evaluations, and needs assessments.
  • Advocacy and Networking: Raise awareness about social issues, pursue legislative reforms, participate in policy-making, and collaborate with various partners to develop solutions.
Social Leadership Program 2024 by India Fellow:

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Age between 21 to 30 years.
  • Commitment to an 18-month full-time fellowship.
  • At least a graduate (in any discipline) by the fellowship start date.
  • Willingness to be placed in any part of the country.
Selection Process:
1. Fill out the online application form.
2. Participate in a short telephonic conversation.
3. Attend the assessment day (group activities and personal interview).
4. Final cohort announced by 1st July 2024. Fellowship begins on 1st August, 2024.

Stipend:
Fellows receive a stipend from the host organization: INR 22,000 per month in metro cities and INR 18,000 per month in the rest of the country, covering accommodation, food, and local commute.

Mentors:
Supported by advisors, mentors, and trainers passionate about exposing young people to social issues and involving them in nation-building. Read more about some of them here.

Fellowship Fundraiser:
The cost to nurture a fellow is INR 3,00,000. Fellows participate in a collective fundraiser to raise this sum for the following cohort, typically aiming to raise INR 1,00,000.
