About the Organization

Nehru Science Centre (NSC) is the largest interactive science centre in India. It is located in Worli, Mumbai. 

Nehru Science Centre is among the four National level Science Museums in NCSM, working as the Western Zone Headquarters with four science centres in Nagpur, Bhopal, Dharampur and Goa under its umbrella caters to the people in the Western part of India. As a part of its activities, the Centre organizes regular extensive science education programmes, activities and competitions for the benefit of the common people and students in particular.

Programme Details

On August 26, 2023 at 10.30 AM, Bombay Association for Science Education (BASE) and Nehru Science Centre (NSC) will host yet another Experimental Skills-based test. There are several forums where students can display their theoretical talent at school and college levels. This initiative is to test the talent of the students on the experimental side of science.

Darbhanga-Gateway to Mithila Selfie Contest by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, India [Cash Prizes Worth Rs. 10k]: Submit by Aug 30 (contest360.blogspot.com)

The assessment of the student will be on the basis of two experiments assigned to the students (without any choice for the student). These experiments can be on any topic of science (not discriminating between Physics, Chemistry and Biology).

Shayari/Kavita Competition on Janmasthmi 2023 [3 Prizes]: Submit by August 30 (contest360.blogspot.com)

The experiments will be at 3 levels. Level 1 will involve direct measurement of physical quantities. Level 2 will be indirect measurements and physical quantities deduced from these measurements. The deduction could be on the basis of graphs, calculation, data, presentation etc. Level 3 will be conceptual based experiments where the skills tested on the previous 2 levels may be used.

Students are expected to learn and develop their experimental skills before appearing for the certificate exam. As envisaged in new National Education Policy, it is desired that the institutions of higher education will give due weightage to this certificate during admission process to professional career of higher education, like Medical, Engineering, Research in basic sciences etc.

The structure of the program may be subject to changes, based on the feedback from the student and teacher community.
