About TISS
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), founded in 1936, is India's premier institution for applied social science research and education. As a deemed university funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC), TISS offers a wide range of professional programs and research degrees across its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, and Hyderabad campuses.
Resource Details
TISS presents Connected Open Online Learning (COOL) resources designed to support student-teachers and teacher educators in continuing their professional education during challenging times.
These resources focus on the Pedagogy of Mathematics, developed from extensive research in mathematics education and real classroom practices. They are particularly valuable for mathematics teachers, student-teachers, and teacher educators. The resources encourage drawing from personal teaching experiences to develop effective principles for teaching and learning mathematics. Additionally, they introduce the integration of technology-enabled student modules in classroom instruction.
The resources are part of the modular courses within the Post Graduate Certificate for Reflective Teaching with ICT (RTICT), already utilized by over 2,000 teachers. Developed under the Connected Learning Initiative (CLIx), a collaboration between TISS and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), these resources have gained recognition, including the King Hamad Prize for Excellence in the Use of ICTs in Education (2018). CLIxOER.tiss.edu offers various modules, simulations, and tools for school-level science, mathematics, and English education.
