The Women Who Lead Governance Fellowship 2025 is a transformative professional development program aimed at empowering women in healthcare to step into leadership roles on non-profit boards. This fellowship offers participants essential governance skills, insights into board recruitment, and the opportunity to engage with governance experts and current board members.
About Women Who Lead
Women Who Lead is a volunteer-driven network supporting professional women in healthcare and other fields. With over 400 members, it strives to nurture a diverse pipeline of women leaders, providing a platform for skill development, collaboration, and inspiration to amplify their contributions to the healthcare sector.
Program Details
The fellowship spans 4 months and involves approximately 10 hours of programming, delivered through:
Session 1: Boardroom Basics
- Date: March 18, 2025 (8:00–10:00 AM, Virtual)
- A legal 101 session covering governance education for non-profit boards.
Session 2: Rise to the Top
- Date: April 15, 2025 (12:00–2:00 PM, Virtual)
- Tools and strategies for navigating board recruitment, including crafting a board bio and excelling in interviews.
Session 3: Leadership and Influence
- Date: May 21, 2025 (4:00–6:30 PM, In-person, Toronto)
- A panel discussion with women in governance providing insights on leadership and influence.
Session 4: Mock Board Interviews (Optional)
- Date: June 18, 2025 (5:00–7:00 PM, In-person, Toronto)
- An interactive session offering practical experience in board interviews through a speed-dating style.
Cost
The fellowship is offered at no cost, with faculty members contributing their time and resources.
- Note: Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses for in-person sessions in Toronto. Enrollment confirmation letters can be provided for employer support.
Eligibility
This program is open to women in healthcare, regardless of career stage, who:
- Have an interest in board governance.
- Are passionate about making an impact.
- Seek foundational knowledge in governance and board dynamics.
