About JSW School of Public Policy

The JSW School of Public Policy (JSW SPP) at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has been set up with a mission to contribute to public policy in India through impactful research; cutting-edge training programmes for practitioners in the public, private, and non-profit sectors; and advisory services to policymakers.

Position Summary

Applications are invited for two research assistant positions starting June 1, 2023 for the JSW School of Public Policy at IIM Ahmedabad. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on different research projects related to public policy aimed at publication in top-tier academic journals.

The position is best suited for a person desiring to pursue a Ph.D. in the future.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Applicants must possess a master’s degree in public policy, public administration, management, or other related disciplines such as economics, political science, and sociology from a reputed institution.
• Applicants must have strong quantitative data analysis skills, excellent communication skills (written and oral) with good foundational knowledge of statistics and econometrics.
• Candidates must be able to conduct literature reviews, read and summarize research papers, and contribute to academic writing in the form of journal publications, case studies, and reports.
• Candidates must be proficient in statistical programming using Stata, Python and/or R. They must be comfortable with creating and managing datasets, analyzing, and visualizing them.

Duration

This is a full-time, on-campus position. The position will be initially offered for a period of six months with a potential for extension up to 12 months based on performance, at the discretion of the faculty supervisor. The Research Assistant will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and may be required to travel within India.

Compesation

Compensation will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
